SANDRINGHAM FLOWER SHOW
'Ripples Echo to the Shore'
John Shone, rural craftsman, designed the garden, The Ripple Echo To The Shore, which spells RettS, for Rett Syndrome which is a rare neurological disorder affecting young girls.
Prince Charles, who toured the showground with the Duchess of Cornwall in a horse drawn carriage, first visited the Royal Marquee where the centrepiece garden, Ripples Echo To The Shore and a familiar face was awaiting them. Starting in 1966, John Shones’ planting reflected the year RettS was first recognised. Completed with a vintage mini, this garden is truly remarkable.
The 130-year-old Sandringham Flower Show still embraces all the traditions it was founded upon, when members of the Royal Family wished to encourage people living on the state to show off the gardening skills.
